Area Police
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.
An important representative commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
