Bungie's Challenged Action Game Marathon Is Gaining Momentum
The upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter, the studio's highly-anticipated game, has reared its head again with the announcement of a closed technical test set to take place soon.
A Rocky Development Journey
First announced during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Marathon has experienced a bumpy creation process. Last fall, the developer announced it was aiming to begin alpha testing during the coming year. However, following initial testing resulted in negative feedback, the studio revealed during summer that it was postponing the game's launch.
Avoiding Past Mistakes
Despite the title has already seen its portion of controversies, Bungie appears determined to ensure Marathon doesn't suffer Concord's fate. Currently, it appears the game's development is finally getting back on track, as they just revealed that it has conducted multiple private tests to gather feedback on Marathon" since this past summer. The developer is opening the doors a bit wider, enabling additional participants to get an early look of the game via an forthcoming "closed technical test."
